If you’re brand new to WordPress, one of the first things you’ll want to learn is how to make a basic blog post. Fortunately, it’s pretty easy to do, but just like most other things in life, it’s a lot easier to learn from someone else than it is to fumble through it on your own. So today Mark is going to show you step by step how to create your first post starting with giving your post a title, adding content and pictures, adding a featured image, and even how to schedule your post to appear later (like when you’re on vacation and you want to make it look like you’re still working).

2:49 Starting a new post (post page overview)

5:54 Entering a post title

6:21 Adding content to your post

7:19 Adding pictures to your post

14:00 Adding a featured image

15:36 Scheduling your post to publish at a later date

17:08 Changing your permalinks

  1. I am watching this for the second time as I am ready for my first blog post in Word Press. I am wondering though. As I work on my post and I publish so I can see if I like how it's looking, won't that be visible to others? Is there a way to check on my progress without it being public? Thanks

  2. David, very impressive video! I am going to be recommending this to all of my readers. Thanks so much for the great instruction and delivery, my friend! God Bless!

  3. WordPress blogs will always have my business, the features and shop is just so sophisticated. WordPress blogs have worked very well in Marketing strategy for me.

  4. Hi, I already have a website, and i have been trying to add a post, but i type tittle, description and add a "featured image " and once i update or even preview changes – i can see everything but the description.. can you tell me why and hot to fix it please?

  5. I got a lot out of the session. However, you assume prior WordPress knowledge, such how to create a WordPress site. There seem to be some pitfalls and gotchas (styles, naming, can I have several sites, etc.) when creating the site. So, it should be a better idea to assume no prior knowledge.

Good work, looking forward to the next WordPress session!

  6. Brighter lighting on the intro I think is good. The list below the video is helpful too when I go back to review the topic. If the action clicks were enlarged that would be helpful to  my aging eyes. 🙂 TY Good work !

  7. Thank you for these very helpful videos.

It is so much easier to learn watching an expert explain so well rather than trying to struggle through a book or magazine.

  8. Excellent tutorials every time, very informative and easy to follow to follow step by step instructions.Always look forward to your next post.
